The Best Quotes on the Top 21 Courses! #5 is Classic!

After a practice round before the British Open, one of the reporters asked Lee "How did you find the course?"  Lee's reply was "I walked out the locker room and there it was!"  His classic remark about Merion Golf Club - "I love Merion and I don't even know her last name."  When Lee Westwood first saw Whistling Straits he said, “I'd been told there are 10 difficult holes and eight impossible ones. I'm still trying to work out which the 10 difficult holes are."  So what are the . . .

Should the LPGA Play the Same Courses as the PGA? That would be fun!

I think it would be very exciting to watch the Professional women play the exact same course as the men play week in and week out.  Just imagine the greats of the LPGA playing Augusta National, Doral Bay Hill, and Muirfield Village!  I definitely think the LPGA would get more viewers as well.

In general, I would like to see the LPGA compete more often on the PGA courses, with the changes that make it fair for women players, of course. The women usually play separate courses which, to me, are not as exciting as most of . . .

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder says the bible.  This definitely is true when it comes to golf courses!   The first golf course I ever played was South Downs Country Club, just outside of Johannesburg, South Africa.  I thought it was the most beautiful place in the world! Since then I have been fortunate to play some great golf courses throughout the world from Pebble Beach to St. Andrews, Scotland.  Each has its own unique beauty.  Ben Alberstadt of bleacherreport.com . . .

Looking for fun places to play golf at an affordable price? Try Canada!

I lived in Toronto, Canada for 5 years and was fortunate to play some really great golf courses in that city.  The #1 ranked St. Georges, and the #2 ranked National Golf & CC were two of my favorites.  The one that was not on this Golf Digest list that surprised me was the Jack Nicklaus designed Glen Abbey G.C., home to the Canadian Open many, many times!  All lists are subjective I suppose.  Anyway, the rest of these courses are worth the visit!

Here are the Top 10 Par 3 Holes in the World. How many have you played?

Augusta National's Par 3 12th might not be the most difficult on this list, but it certainly is the most famous!

These famous holes are in Ireland, Portugal, Scotland, the USA, and Mexico. Par-3 holes can look very benign and are usually very pretty but, as Scott Stevens says in his blog “... the wind can cause havoc with any tee shot.”

I have played only 4 of the beautiful, yet intimidating, 10 Par-3 holes showcased at eatsleepgolf.ca. #'s 2, 5, 6 and . . .

What would you do to eradicate slow play? Comments please!

The subject of slow play has been addressed hundreds of times. Is it a case of taking the hard line to capture repeat customers who like playing fast?  So tell me, if everybody hates slow play, why do we put up with it weekend after weekend?  Is some golf course owner gutsy enough to take on the ideas of Sam Adams?  Via progolfnow.com, Sam has some interesting ideas on how to get courses to speed up play.  Leave your comments below . . .

The top par 69 courses around the world! Here’s the top 6!

When I travelled to Scotland in 2014, one of the courses suggested by our travel agent was Crail's Balcomie Links.  When we arrived on a sunny but blustery day and looked over the course (see picture below) I thought "What a boring looking course."  When I looked at the scorecard and saw that it was only 5861 yards, I thought "Why in heaven's name did the travel agent suggest this course? We are not going to enjoy this."  Wow, was I wrong.  It was an extremely challenging course, and as my group said afterwards in the . . .
