David Olberding, the lead instructor at the Mel Sole Golf School, talks about a drill that he teaches not only to his students but does this drill himself always to make sure he is getting the weight shift sequence correct.  

Underhand throw – this drill is the easiest of all the drills we teach.  Take a ball, stand sideways onto your target as we do in the golf swing, and throw the ball underhand down the fairway as far as you can.  You will notice that the weight shift happens automatically because we grew up as kids throwing a ball.

Tennis racquet drill – Imagine that you are hitting a forehand topspin in tennis.  If you have played tennis before, you will understand the concept of stepping into the shot as you play it. Make sure (as in all these drills) that your weight always finishes on the lead foot!

Happy Gilmore – For those who have seen the movie, you know exactly what I am talking about.  Step back from the ball a few paces and then quickly step into the ball and hit it “on the run,” so to speak.

There you have it!  Three drills for getting your weight shift sequence correct in the easiest way possible. So head to the driving range (if you live in the south) or an indoor facility (if you live in the north) and practice this drill.  Not only will it improve your distance, but your ball striking as well.
