Today I discuss how a stance's width is essential in hitting more solid and more consistent shots! The width of your stance is not the same for every club in the bag. ... The basic rule is the longer the club, the wider your stance needs to be. This is because the extra shaft length creates more clubhead speed, and to control that, you need the added stability of a wider stance.

Narrow Stance.

When you are hitting a shot that requires a lot of body rotation, I use the narrow stance for all my pitch shots and short iron shots. The quicker the body rotation, the more spin I can put on the ball.

Shoulder Width.

Most Iron Shots from the 9 iron up to my 2 hybrid.

Slightly Wider than Shoulder Width.

My Driver. Because I need more ground force and use the ground for leverage, I will attain that with a wider stance.  Because I am swinging faster and harder, it will also help my balance!

Next time you are on the range, pay attention to your stance.  You'll thank me!
