Every Wednesday, I present a Video Blog on how to improve your scoring by managing your game correctly. Today we talk about something you don't want to do on the course. Short siding! What is Short siding? Short siding is when you miss the green on the side of the green where the flag is positioned, leaving yourself very little green to work with.
When hitting an iron into the green, take note of where the flag is. If the flag is on the left-hand side of the green, you want to err slightly to the flag's right. The same would apply if the flag were on the right, you would err slightly on the left. This assures that you do not short side yourself and leave a difficult chip with not much green to work with.
My apologies for the sound at the end of this video. I was a little outside the transmitter's range as I hit a shot from the opposite angle. Notice that the ball's finish is slightly past the hole, which is exactly what I was trying to do. Good course management!
