Today is Wednesday, and in our new Video Blog series, that means Course Management Wednesdays!  Course Management is the most neglected part of most amateurs games.  Here, I talk about the pre-shot routine.  If you want to play consistent golf (and who does not?), you must have a consistent pre-shot routine.  This routine should be used not only on the golf course but also on the range when you are practicing.  Get your mind and body ready before you step up to the ball, and you will have greater success with your golf game!

A Pre-Shot Routine needs to be the same every time.  The routine should take into consideration the following.

Distance to flag.

Wind.

Elevation.

Lie (if not on a par 3)

Club Selection (based on distance, wind, elevation, and lie)

Visualization

Alignment.

Swing Away!

Consider adding all of these elements into your pre-shot routine if you want to get good, consistent results out of your golf game.  Don't hurry this process.  Try and do it at the same speed every time.  Get someone to use a stopwatch (you have one on your phone) and time yourself.  See how long it takes when you do it at what you feel is normal speed.  Then try doing it faster and slower (two or three shots with each) to see which one gives you the best results.  Find one that you are going to use for the rest of your golfing life!
