While playing on the South African Sunshine Tour back in the mid-'60s, I used a Persimmon Driver with a steel shaft.  I still managed to hit the ball around 300 yards. However, that is a far cry from today's power hitters who use specially prepared drivers made of Titanium, have wound graphite shafts and golf balls that not only travel at 260 feet per second (the legal limit) but have dimple designs that carry the ball further and further!

Swing by Swing presents a video by Golf Digest that has a golfer hitting his Driver 430 yards!  You have to see this to believe it!

Did you know that the average driving distance on the PGA tour is 289 yards? The Tour’s heaviest hitter, Dustin Johnson, smashed a ball at 318 yards this past weekend. Which is why this video is so alien-like…

Seriously. This guy is on another planet…

Watch World Long Drive Champion Jeff Flagg attempt to land a ball on the green from the tee box 430-yards away. The fact that he is this accurate with that much power is mind-blowing. Now let’s see if he can actually putt.
