When practicing golf, you need to quantify your practice to really improve. If you don’t, how do you know that your skills are improving?  Measuring your improvement and challenging yourself will make practice much more fun and productive!  If you do this with a friend, spouse, or child, it is even more fun!

Whatever shot you are working on, count out a specific number of balls and pick a target.  Hit all those balls to your target, putting various restrictions on the target. (for example, put a 6-foot circle around the hole you are chipping to.) Keep a small notebook in your golf bag, and after your practice session, but the date, the type of shot, the target and restrictions, and the number of successful shots. This is your baseline.  The next time you practice this shot, you can refer to the book and make sure you don't leave the range until your successful shots are better than the last time.  That way, you know for absolute certainty that you are better now than you were before. YOU ARE IMPROVING!
