Follow along as former European Tour player Rickard Strongert demonstrates the 3 things that will help you to stop slicing!

Slicing is the most common of errant shots by high handicap golfers.  Here Rickard Strongert shows you how to correct these.  Thanks to Videojug for this instructional video!

The Grip.

In order to stop slicing you need a strong grip.  Place the upper hand on the club more in the palm of the hand with the butt of the club just under the “pad” of the hand.  When the fingers close, the golfer should be able to see 3 or 4 knuckles of that upper hand.  The lower hand is more in the fingers with the V’s formed by the thumbs and back of the hands parallel to each other.

Alignment.

Golfers who slice tent to aim to far to the right.  This causes an “over the top” swing in an effort to “pull” the ball back on line.  If the clubface is even slightly open at impact, a big slice will result.  Make sure the feet, hips and shoulders are all aligned parallel to the target line.  Have a friend lay a club across your shoulders to see if you are in the proper position.

Swinging from the inside.

By starting the downswing with a lateral movement of the hips, the club will drop down into what instructors call “the slot.”  This move allows the clubhead path to travel more from the inside to out.
