This week's quiz is a two-part question.

Part 1: A player hits a tee shot in the rough.  After two or three minutes, he decides to go back to the tee and play another ball.  He Tees the ball up, but his playing partners find the ball within the designated 5-minute rule just before he hits.  Can the player return to his original ball?

Part 2: A player hits his second shot towards the green.  After two or three minutes of searching for the ball, he decides to return to the spot of his last shot and play another ball.  He drops the ball, but he's playing partners find the ball within the designated 5-minute rule just before he hits.  Can the player return to his original ball?

Send your answers to melsolegolf@gmail.com. The winner will receive a one-hour lesson at either the NC, SC, or NY locations.

Last Weeks Winner.

Last week’s question addressed the situation where a player hits a tee shot and cannot see the result.  When he/she arrives at the green, there is no ball in sight.  After a short search, the player returns to the tee and puts another ball in play.  When he is putting out, he discovers that his original ball was in the hole!  What is the ruling?  How should the player proceed?

There were quite a few correct answers to this quiz, but Dick Rose of DeBordieu Colony, Georgetown, SC correctly stated that all shots played after the original ball was holed are null and void, so the player got a hole. In one!  Congratulations Dick.  Give us a call to set up your one-hour lesson.
