Making Golf Practice Fun for the Kids

Today is June 1st, 2018 and we present Making Golf Practice fun for the Kids.  June 2018 Monthly Golf Tip.  Brought to you by Mel Sole, Director of Instruction and Master professional at the Mel Sole Golf School headquartered at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC.

Making Golf Practice Fun for the Kids

This month I focus on Kids Golf and how to get them more involved in practising their short game without even realizing that they are practising!  When you are Making Golf Practice Fun for Kids you are teaching them not only golf skills but also life skills!  Persistence when things are going wrong, the determination not to give up and the pride of getting it in the end.  These are all part of growing up with a great attitude that will pay dividends in their adult years.

The Obstacle Course.

Set up an obstacle course similar to the one I am demonstrating here.  Go to a Walmart or Target and buy some paper or plastic coloured plates and matching cups. Put them at various stations that make the shot similar to what they would find during a regular round of golf. If possible, make the course with 9 stations.  By doing the stations twice, they can have an 18 hole score.  Each child gets a scorecard and pencil and learns to keep score at each station. The golf is to improve the second time around!  Prizes can be given out for best 1st nine, best 2nd 9 and overall score.  No player can win more than 1 prize!

By putting numbers on the plates, the kids can start at any station and if they are starting on station #3, then they would write down their score on their scorecard on hole #3.
