Set at the foot of Table Mountain, Mowbray Golf Club is renowned for its breathtaking views, lush fairways and immaculate greens.

There are a variety and abundance of birdlife clusters around the water features. Experience the pleasure of teeing off down newly mown fairways, bordered by tall pines and indigenous trees.

Sunday, October 25

Today after breakfast we play Milnerton Golf Cub.

The Course…
Milnerton Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 72 seaside course situated in a leafy suburb just 10 minutes north of the city of Cape Town. Surrounded by natural beauty, the course is a pleasure to the senses and a challenge to even the most experienced golfer - especially when the prevailing South Easter, affectionately known as the "Cape Doctor" - makes her house calls in the summer months!
Nestled between the Atlantic ocean and the RietVlei river, this lush links-type course is relatively flat with few trees. But with the sea and the lagoon bordering most holes, and the 7 beautiful water holes waiting to claim the wayward shot, it offers a truly unique golfing experience! Typical of many links-type courses, you will play the first 9 holes out, enjoy a light meal at the halfway house, and then return back to the clubhouse via the second 9.

Overnight a the Table Bay Hotel.

Monday, October 26

Today we will leave early for Stellenbosch and play Spier Golf Course.

Situated within the 300 hectares and much sought after De Zalze Wine Estate is the Spier Golf Course which is also known as the De Zalze golf course. This course is yet another of Peter Matkovich’s brilliant creations which has accentuated the beautiful setting and created a course with the paramount on accuracy. This course is ranked by Golf Digest as the number three golf course in the Western Cape. The Spier Golf Course was the first golf course in the world to receive the Fair Trade in Tourism.

The course is considered a combination links and parklands course with a fair amount of water challenges on several of the holes. The Spier Golf Course has been described as having a memorable layout with many challenges especially along the second nine. The par-four 12th is a short hole with an island tee over a large stretch of water to a green that can be driven if you are willing to brave the water. The par-five that is set among the citrus trees and which has two fairways is yet another memorable hole.

The golf club which has been open since 2000 is an exciting addition to various international standard championship golf courses which was built in the Western Cape recently. The Spier Golf Course has already played host to various championship events as well as the 2006 World Amateur Team Championships. The Spier wine group purchased an interest in the property in 2000 and together with Kleine Zalze they have re-modelled the estate into one of the most sought after golf real estate properties in the Cape Winelands with an exceptional golf course to boot. The Spier Golf Course welcomes all golfers and with the various amenities ensures that golfers have an enjoyable golfing experience.

This afternoon we will visit David Frost Vineyard and have lunch with David and then he will take us on a tour of his winery. Last time everyone just loved this!

Overnight at the Table Bay Hotel.

Tuesday, October 27

Check out of the Table Bay Hotel and transfer to the airport in time for your flight to George. The golf bags would have been transferred by road and will be waiting for you on arrival. After checking into the hotel, enjoy a round of golf.

Fancourt’s Outeniqua Golf Course

  • Designer: Gary Player Design Co.
  • Distance: Champ 6 450m (7 038 yds), Club 5 981m (6 572), Par 72

The Outeniqua Golf Course was named after the mountain range that runs along the Garden route coast. This parkland layout is not as popular as Montagu and the Links, but mainly due to aesthetics and nothing more. The Outeniqua Golf Course takes in a setting of mountains, water and wildlife. It's cleverly designed, picturesque, and presents a challenge to golfers of all levels. The Outeniqua short par-four 4th will keep big hitters guessing whether or not to go for it and face the risk of the waterway that dominates the right side of the green and fairway, or play it safe and lay-up! Since golf at Fancourt is limited to members, their guest and hotel guests have ample time to play at their own pace and take in the golfing experience that is Fancourt.

Overnight at the Fancourt Hotel and Golf Estate.

A combination of old world charm and contemporary luxuries distinguishes Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate from the rest. Guests will stay in the beautifully restored Manor House or one of the many stately Garden Suites and Studios, which are newly refurbished. All rooms and suites are individually furnished in country-manor style. The Manor House is a restful haven, whose history dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. In 1847, Henry Fancourt White established a workers base at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains for the construction of the Montagu Pass, which you can still travel along. Now a National Monument, the Manor House with its 34 bedrooms, is situated in wooded parkland and is the perfect base for your leisure or conference activities. Fancourt’s gardens are perfect for relaxation. Choose between the Garden Studios or the one- or two-bedroom Garden Suites. All are just a few steps away from Fancourt’s garden avenues, which are lined with trees and flowers. A number of the Garden Studios and Suites offer views of the golf course.

Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate offers the golfing visitor three world-class golf courses: the Outeniqua, the Montagu, and the Links. All the courses are renowned for their excellent year-round condition and the attention to detail. The golf courses include two 18-hole courses designed by Gary Player, an 18-hole Links course, a fourth 18-hole course, driving range and practice greens.

There is a wide range of activities to enjoy during your stay at Fancourt. The Health and Beauty Spa offers a complete range of refreshing and revitalizing treatments, a gymnasium, tennis courts, squash court, lawn bowls, two outdoor pools, a heated indoor pool and Jacuzzi. Fancourt’s elegant boutique, Cherot, and professional hair salon will ensure you’re always at your stylish-best during your stay.

Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate gives you a choice of five fine restaurants, all of which bear testimony to Fancourt’s reputation as purveyors of fine cuisine. Enjoy traditional Italian cuisine at La Cantina, freshly prepared seafood dishes at Le Pecheur, or one of Morning Glory’s light healthy meals. If it’s more exotic dishes you’re after, why not indulge in global fusion cuisine at Bramble Lodge, or treat yourself to Sansibar’s tasty African dishes.

Fancourt’s Montagu Golf Course

  • Designer: Gary Player
  • Distance: Champ 6 284m (6095 yds), Club 5 996m (6589 yds), Par 72

The Fancourt Montagu is considered one of the best conditioned golf courses in South Africa, and has been ranked as the top course in the country a few times. The Montagu takes in a setting of mountains, water and wildlife. It is cleverly designed, picturesque, and presents a challenge to golfers of all levels. These Gary Player designed courses are demanding, fair tests set in beautiful surroundings. The generous kikuyu fairways and fast bent-grass greens give a taste of the type of course popular on the US tour. The most challenging, nerve-racking and enjoyable hole is the par-three 17th. Only by clearing a large expanse of water can the green be reached, similar to the 12th at Augusta National. Since golf at Fancourt is limited to members, their guests and hotel guests will have ample time to play at their own pace, taking in the golfing experience that is Fancourt.
