Golf Trip to Southwest Ireland, August 2019 with Mel Sole is part of the annual Mel Sole Golf School International Golf Tours. These tours are to South Africa, Scotland, and Ireland. Each location is offered tri-annually. These are hosted by SAPGA Master Professional Mel Sole.

Below is the itinerary for our proposed 2019 trip golf trip to Southwest Ireland. There will be a maximum of 16 golfers in the group. No limit on non-golfers.

Wednesday, August 14:
Early arrivals from the USA will travel from Dublin Airport to visit the Waterford Crystal factory in the city of Waterford. In June 2010, Waterford Crystal relocated almost back to its original roots on The Mall in Waterford city center. This new location is now home to a manufacturing facility that melts over 750 tons of crystal a year, although most Waterford Crystal is now produced outside Ireland. This new facility offers visitors the opportunity to take guided tours of the factory and also offers a retail store, showcasing the world’s largest collection of Waterford Crystal. Travel to Kinsale, the “gourmet capital” of Ireland! Rest of the day to relax. A brief tour around the charming town of Kinsale may follow before dinner…..the town is known as Ireland’s gastronomic capital where there are several excellent restaurants (see separate list) and many marvelous, typically Irish pubs.

The Golf Begins!
Thursday, August 15:
After a leisurely breakfast, the 12 golfers will proceed to play at Old Head of Kinsale. 12 Golfers. Tee times: 3.15 pm, 3.30 pm, and 3.45 pm
To hear the waves crash against the sheer walls, to see the gulls swooping down against white-foamed surf, and to feel the ocean spray, wet and cool against your face; that is The Old Head”
Non-golfers will have the opportunity to visit the Kinsale Pottery & Arts Centre, and later perhaps the Kinsale Mead Company.

Friday, August 16:
After breakfast, the whole group will travel to the City of Cork, Ireland’s second city, where the non-golfers will disembark to tour around the city, taking in the English Market and St Peter and Paul’s Church.
8 Golfers will continue on to play Fota Island GC. 8 Golfers. Tee times: 11.00am and 11.10 am.
Welcome to a good walk unspoiled. The outstanding natural landscapes of Fota Island Golf Club offer a golfing experience that’s simply unmatched in Ireland, let alone Cork.
The golf club boasts three championship standard golf course configurations – the original Deerpark (Par 71), Belvelly (Par 72) and Barryscourt (Par 73). The championship Cork golf club was proud to host 2001, 2002 and 2014 Irish Opens. In 2011 & 2012, the golf club also hosted the PGA Europro Audi Cork Irish Masters.
After lunch in Cork, the non-golfers may choose to visit the Jameson Whiskey distillery at Midleton near Cork, before picking up the golfers and returning to Kinsale.
Saturday, August 17:
After breakfast, the group will travel about 11?2 hours to Killarney, Co. Kerry to check in to the Brehon Hotel & Spa for three nights.
The 12 golfers will tee-off at the excellent Dooks Golf Club at Glenbeigh. 12 Golfers. 12.30pm, 12.40pm and 12.50pm
If you are on a golfing break in Kerry you won’t want to miss the opportunity to play Dooks – a truly magical location for a stunning golf course. Experience breathtaking views and a unique links challenge that golfers have enjoyed since 1889.
The non-golfers will go on to visit the splendid Lakes of Killarney.

Sunday, August 18:
After a hearty Irish breakfast, the group will have the whole morning to explore the charming town of Killarney, perhaps using the hop-on/hop-off shuttle bus to tour around the town before the 8 golfers head off to play Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, Killeen Course. 8 Golfers. 2.20 pm and 2.30 pm.
Killeen golf course is what we like to think of as our pièce de resistance here at Killarney Golf Club, and there is a very good reason for such a grand statement. The backdrop to Killeen is something very special indeed and provides golfers with a spectacle that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. The wonderful lake and mountain views make for a spectacular backdrop to one of the world’s most renowned golf courses.
Meanwhile, the non-golfers may choose to relax in the Spa back at the hotel or perhaps to visit Muckross House…. a furnished 19th-century mansion set amongst mountains and woodland, with shop, cafe, and working farms.

Monday, August 19:
Following breakfast today, the whole group will travel just over an hour from Killarney to the charming village of Adare in Co. Limerick, visiting the local craft shops before the 8 golfers head off to play one of Ireland’s finest golf courses at Adare Manor. 8 Golfers. 12.00 pm and 12.15 pm.
Meanwhile, the non-golfers will travel on to explore Bunratty Castle and adjoining folk park, before returning to pick up the golfers from Adare Manor.

Tuesday, August 20:
After an early breakfast today, the group will check out before heading off on the famous Ring of Kerry to Waterville, where the 12 golfers will play the splendid new clifftop course at Hogs Head Golf Club. 12 Golfers. 10.45 am, 11 am, and 11.15 am.
Set atop 100-foot bluffs over the Atlantic Ocean. Celebrated golf architect Tom Fazio has taken what was already an award-winning course and transformed it into a parkland paradise befitting a country in the top tier of global golfing destinations. The new course has been created in harmony with the outstanding natural beauty of its surroundings: lush, softly rolling terrain, mature tree scaping, and the sweeping banks of the River Maigue.
Meanwhile, the non-golfers will travel to visit Cahersiveen, Portmagee, and Valentia in the South Kerry area, before returning to pick up the golfers and heading via Killorglin and north to Ballybunion, where you will check in to the Teach de Broc Hotel for two nights.

Wednesday, August 21:
After an early breakfast, the 12 golfers will play the Ballybunion Golf Club, Cashen Course. 12 Golfers. 9.12 am, 9.23 am, and 9.24 am.
The non-golfers go for a walk on the outstanding Ladies Beach before perhaps enjoying a classic seaweed bathtub at Collins seaweed baths……..highly recommended!
Overnight at Teach Le Broc. Breakfast included.
The two courses in Ballybunion are positioned on the same terrain and separated by Ballybunion’s imposing clubhouse. We are ideally located directly across from this wonderful expanse of Sand dunes. The intricacy of both courses complemented by the beauty of their coastal location contributes to Ballybunion’s consistent ranking in Ireland’s top ten courses.
Thursday, August 22:
Following a very early breakfast, the 8 golfers will check out before playing the Ballybunion Golf Club, Old Course. 8 Golfers. 7.22 am and 7.33 am.
The non-golfers may wish to stretch their legs again on the fabulous beach nearby.
After golf, the group will travel east towards Dublin, visiting the excellent Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens at Kildare if time permits, prior to checking in to the Portmarnock Hotel & Spa.
En route to Dublin, Chip Lee will say ‘farewell’ to the group in Limerick, where he will travel onward to Lahinch.
Friday, August 23:
After an early breakfast, the group will travel into Central Dublin…..sightseeing perhaps at Trinity College, where the world-famous Book of Kells is retained, and on to the excellent museum at the Guinness Storehouse, before the 12 golfers return for a round over the wonderful links at Portmarnock Golf Club.
Meanwhile, the non-golfers may choose to visit the local fishing village of Howth or perhaps to enjoy another spa back at the hotel.

Within a picturesque curve of coastline, 10 miles to the north of Dublin City and only a 15-minute drive from Dublin Airport, Portmarnock Golf Club sits majestically on a narrow tongue of shallow duneland. And as a measure of its enduring quality, it remains one of the most respected venues in world golf. 11 Golfers. 3.30 pm, 3.40 pm, and 3.50 pm.
Saturday, August 24:
Following a very early breakfast, the group will return to Dublin Airport for their return journeys to the United States, bearing many happy memories of a tour to the Emerald Isle.
Depart Dublin for the USA.

Price quote is in US Dollars and includes currency exchange fees. Price cannot be locked in without a deposit, due to currency fluctuation. Do not book flights until your schedule, with all accommodations and tee times, is confirmed.
Your trip will be confirmed upon receipt of the first deposit of $1000.
Make sure your welcome package (received after 50% of the tour has been paid.) contains your confirmed itinerary. Along with all of the critical details for everyone in the group including rooming arrangements, caddie requests, travel insurance, payments made, flight information, etc.
Tour payments are nonrefundable. Information about travel insurance can be provided.
TERMS & CONDITIONS.
Verbal commitments will put your name on the list on a first come first served basis. Spots are confirmed by deposits of $1000. This is due by December 1, 2018. 50% of the cost of the trip minus the $1000 is due by January 15, 2019. The balance is due by June 1, 2019.
Cancellation Policy: Written notice of your cancellation should be mailed to P.O. Box 2580, Pawleys Island, SC 29585 or faxed to 843-237-8397 as soon as possible. Cancellation fees are as follows:
- $1000 is non-refundable
- No refund will be given within 7 days of departure.
In no case will refunds be made for unused portions of the booked itinerary. Total Golf Inc. reserves the right to cancel, change or substitute any service and to decline to accept or retain any tour member at any time for any reason.
Golf Carts: Pull carts are available at most golf courses. Motorized carts are only available on a limited basis at very few courses and must be requested in advance; however, they cannot be guaranteed. All cart fees must be paid by the golfer directly to the Golf Club. (not included in the price of a tour.)
Caddies: Approximate cost is 20 pounds plus tip and can be requested in advance at most golf clubs. Payment is made by the golfer directly to the Golf Club or Caddie. (not included in the price of a tour).
Once a program has been booked and confirmed, an administrative fee of $30.00 will be charged for each subsequent change in the tour.
Course Selection: All golf is subject to course availability. In the event a particular course is unavailable, a course of equal value will be substituted. The actual sequence of the courses listed In our scheduled tours may also change due to course availability.
Documents: Upon receipt of full payment, the traveler will receive a detailed itinerary and all necessary, travel documents within ten days of departure.
Handicaps: It is suggested that all golfers carry a current handicap certificate. An increasing number of courses requires visiting players to be a member of a golf club.
Insurance: Travel insurance for accident, baggage, and trip cancellation protection is recommended. Details and applications are provided to all passengers with confirmed reservations or upon request. The policy cannot be purchased after final payment is received.
U.S. and Canadian citizens are required to have a current passport. No exceptions will be made.
All tour costs are provided in U.S. Dollars and are subject to change due to currency fluctuation.
Mel Sole and Total Golf Inc. has contracted with independent contractors in securing and booking the services provided in their tours. They are not responsible for any negligent act and/or omissions of these independent contractors, their employees, agents, servants or representatives.
