Golf Tips » May 2003: Another way to hit a draw!
Thursday, May 1, 2003Most golfers tend to hit a slice and when it is necessary to hit a draw (moving the ball from right to left for a right-hander) they are really stuck behind the 8 ball (or in this case the tree).
Here is a way for you to hit a draw when you need it.

In picture #1, I need to hit a draw around the tree so I am lined up to the right of the tree (the direction I want the ball to start out). My clubface is aimed to my target (in this case behind the tree).
Here is a close-up of this situation:

Now go ahead and make your normal swing. The ball should start off where you are aimed and draw to the place your clubface was.

For those of you who have had difficulty drawing a ball in the past, this is a fairly easy way to accomplish it without actually changing your swing. Try it on the range before you attempt it on the course, just so you know how the ball is going to react.
