Golf Tips » December 2004: Another way to line up correctly!

A lot of students who have tried my alignment method from an earlier tip still seem to have difficulty lining up correctly. Most right-handed golfers tend to aim to the right and lefties to the left. This is because we tend to look “over” our shoulder rather than parallel to it. Here is a sure-fire way to set up correctly.

I am using the tree in the middle of our range as the target. Stand behind your ball and focus your eyes on the target.

Walk towards the ball still keeping your eyes on the target.

Look down just long enough to place the club behind the ball…

…and immediately look back at your target before you start moving your body.

Now, while still looking at the target, place your feet in their proper position. You will now be aligned perfectly to your target.

Try this on the range first just to get comfortable. Use it on the course and your setup will be flawless every time!
