Frequently Asked Questions

Over the years, we have received many questions about our golf school programs. We have assembled the following collection of questions and answers to help you quickly find the information you need.

If you have a question that’s not addressed here, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What if it rains?
Any golf school days missed due to weather will be rescheduled in the future for students, subject to availability. Every effort is made to schedule the missed time for the golfer while he/she is still in the vicinity. You will be credited for instructional time missed (no monetary refund.)

What is the cancellation policy?
Tuition less $50 per person administrative fee is refundable up to 30 days prior to start of golf school.  After 30 days there is no refund, however, you can reschedule your golf school without penalty.  Golf School Gift Certificates are instruction redeemable only. They have no cash value.

Do you rent clubs?

At both of our golf schools in South Carolina, plus at our Georgia Golf School and Missouri location, you can rent golf school clubs from $20 to $35 per day. (At the Greenville Golf School, the rate for a full day’s rental, for golf after school, increases to $70 per day.)

At our other golf schools, club rental is available at the host Pro Shop.

Do you do clubfitting?
We do clubfitting at our Myrtle Beach Golf School, as well as our Missouri and Colorado locations. We have various brands and very reasonable prices. Please notify the school prior to arrival that you will be interested in clubfitting so we can schedule some additional time. Clubs can be ordered and shipped to your home directly within 5 to 7 days. If you do not have clubs at all, the school will arrange a rental set while you are in school and then do the fitting while you are there.

I’m a leftie. Can your teachers work with me?
All of our golf instructors have plenty of experience working with left-handed players. Our “lefties” regularly report great results and renewed enthusiasm in their game.

Can someone attend golf school who has never played golf?
We welcome rank beginners. It’s great to begin golf with the correct fundamentals taught by professional teachers, instead of picking up bad habits while playing with well-meaning friends or family.

Do you have covered hitting areas?
At our golf schools in Myrtle Beach, Greenville and Georgia we have overhead protection from rain. At our other golf schools, we work around any inclement weather by juggling the scheduling of outdoor activities with indoor video analysis, and other strategies. (see rain policy above)

Can we play golf in the afternoon after golf school?
Definitely. Each of our host golf clubs provides tee times for Ritson-Sole students at reasonable rates.

How big are your golf classes?
We have 4 or fewer students in each class, for plenty of individual attention. At our Pawleys Island SC headquarters, we may have 2 or 3 golf teachers conducting golf schools at the same time, but each PGA Instructor works exclusively with his or her own small group for the complete program.

Who are your golf instructors?
Our instructors are PGA or LPGA teachers with many years of teaching experience when they come to us. They are specially trained in the award-winning Ritson-Sole teaching philosophies and methods. To see their individual bios  select a golf school location here and then click on Golf Instructor.

Can I attend your golf school as a single?
Most definitely. You may attend and pay the regular ‘commuter’ rate, or, at our ‘resort’ sites like Pawleys Island SC and Ellicottville NY, you can buy a package. At our Pawleys Island SC headquarters, please contact us and we will help to customize a package for you that includes room preference, length of stay, golf course selections, and applicable taxes. Our NY singles package rates are available here.

Can I book an on-course playing lesson if I have not taken a previous golf lessons at your school?
We need to work with you for at least 1 hour in a private lesson before we will accompany you on a playing lesson. A previous range lesson reveals your level of skill, and your strengths and weaknesses, and prepares the Instructor to conduct an optimum on-course golf lesson.
