Golf Cart Pre-Round Stretches!

Today is May 11th, 2018 and we present Golf Cart Pre-Round Stretches!  Fitness Friday #87.  A Golf Video Blog with Mel Sole, Director of Instruction and Master Professional at the Mel Sole Golf School headquartered at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC.

Once again our host of Fitness Friday #87 is Carolina Romero aka The Fit Golfer Girl.  Today Carolina is going to show us some pretty simple yet highly effective Golf Cart Pre-Round Stretches!  Do these just before your round to improve your scores and prevent injury to your body!

Golf Cart Pre-Round Stretches!

Chest Stretch.

Hold onto the golf cart and turn your body in the opposite direction.  Hold this position for 5 to 10 seconds, and come back to the starting position.  Repeat on the other side.

Lat Stretch.

Put your feet close to the cart and hang onto it. Now stick our butt out and let yourself hang.  You will feel a stretch in the side of your body and your upper arms.  Hold this position for 5 to 10 sends and bring it back to the original position, Repeat 10 times.

Calf Stretch.

Put the balls of your feet on the edge of the golf cart floor and let your heels drop. Hold for 5 to 10 seconds. Bring it back to the starting position and repeat 10 times.

Hip Flexor Stretch.

Get into a stagger stance position with one of your feet on the golf cart floor, the other on the ground. Squeeze your glutes, tuck your tailbone in and bring your hips forward. Hold for 5 to 10 sends.  Bring back to the original position.  Repeat with the other leg.

Thoracic Spine Stretch.

Hold onto the cart with one hand.  Stick your butt back to create a table-top position and take one of your hands and put it behind your head. From here you are going to rotate your upper body in one direction keeping your lower body as stable as possible.  Hold this stretch for 3 to 5 seconds and bring it back to the original position. Repeat 10 times per side.

Squats.

Hold onto the golf cart and, while putting all the weight on your heels, stick your butt out and sit in an imaginary chair. Pushing through your heels, come up and squeeze your butt at the top. Repeat for 10 reps.

Shoulder External Rotation Stretch.

Hold onto the top of the golf cart and walk your body forward.  Hold it there for 5 to 10 seconds.  Bring it back to the original position and repeat 10 times per side.
