Improving putting aim is the key to making more putts—Mel Sole shares two critical tips for improving your putting aim in this month's video golf tip.

Because golf is a sideways game, aiming is a problem.  We get an optical illusion when we aim.  Our eyes have "binocular vision."  That means we aim with two eyes, face on to the target.  The vision is skewered when we go sideways on.

1) Get behind the ball and aim the line on the ball at the intended line. ( the line you want to start the putt on)

2) Look beyond with your practice swings.  Look about 12 to 18 inches beyond the hole, and you will never leave your putts short.

3) Practicing with a tee 12" beyond the hole and another 18" beyond will help.  If you miss the putt, the ball should pass the 12" tee and stop short of the 18" tee.  That way, you are working on both aim and speed!
