Do this drill used by instructors to help students understand how the body works as one unit.  There is no definite "left" side or "right" side. So go and get yourself two driver shafts without the heads and let's get started!

The Reason for the Drill.

This is a great drill that can help you understand sequencing and the body moving as one with the left and right sides of the body in perfect harmony.  I like this "Dual Shaft" drill for one more reason.  It gives a sense of extension on the backswing that few other drills give.  Again, because the arms are moving together and not independently, make sure that the clubs' shafts stay the same distance apart at all times.  You can also use the dual shafts to understand the downswing sequence as well.  Again, don't let one side outrace the other, all the way to the follow-through!  Try the "Dual Shaft" drill out on the range the next time you go to practice!  This is also a drill you can do in your yard at home.

How to do the Drill.

Take two shafts.  Preferably wood shafts, but iron shafts will do.  There must be no heads on the shafts.  Go into your address position with one shaft in each hand and place them in a parallel position where the shaft would normally be in the address position.  Swing back to the top of the backswing, keep two shafts close together.  When you start the downswing, make sure the shafts still match and do not separate.  Keep going all the way to the follow-through, and again the shafts should be close together.  As you become more and more accustomed to this drill, you can slowly start adding speed.  All the while making sure the shafts stay close to one another and NEVER separate.

This will finally give you a great feel of how the body works in sync.  Now take a club and swing away.  You'll be pleased with the results!!
