Are you someone who took up golf, only to give it up a year or two later?

I have heard some women, who are beginner golfers,  say that it is a frustrating game.  It is too time-consuming, and it can be intimidating to play as a new golfer.

Here are my suggestions on how to overcome all of those cons:

First, play with women who are of similar handicaps.

If you aren't a club member, join the EWGA (Executive Women's Golf Association) in your area. They will help you meet other golfers and enjoy monthly get-togethers that emphasize having fun on the course. You can start playing with a 9-hole group, where there's no real competition or scoring expectations.

For rank beginners, tee off from the 100-yard marker.

Yes, put a tee in the ground on the fairway, and when you can score a six or better from that distance, move back to the 150-yard marker, then eventually to the 200-yard marker, and finally from the teeing ground. You'll play much faster and won't feel pressure from people waiting for you to play their shots.

Take regular instruction.

Indeed, golf is not an easy sport, and you need help to improve and enjoy it. I recommend taking a three-day golf school program once each year, where you'll work on drills for every aspect of the game, from tee to green. Make sure the video is included, which is essential to your learning process.

Take a one-hour follow-up lesson from a reputable teaching pro at least once a month in between your annual golf school. And finally, practice your drills at least two days per week to gain lasting improvement and confidence.
