Are You Ready for Golf School?

Hi, I’m Mel Sole, Director of Instruction at the Mel Sole Golf School, headquartered at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC.  We conduct 1, 2 and 3-day golf schools, hourly golf lessons, and senior golf schools—any golf instruction program your heart desires. Give us a call at 800-624-4653 or 843-237-4993.  We will be happy to book a commuter school or a package that contains accommodations, golf, and golf school.

Monthly Golf Tips by the Mel Sole Golf School.

Do:

Some flexibility exercises daily for at least two weeks before golf school. You will be hitting many balls, and if your muscles are not used to stretching, you will feel a little stiff the next day. Below are some recommendations:

  • Take your driver, put it across your shoulders, and make a slow twisting motion to duplicate the golf motion. Start slowly and do several repetitions daily.
  • Take a club into the yard and swing back and forth in a nice rhythmical motion starting with five minutes and gradually building up the fifteen minutes. Use a weighted club if you have one.

Do:

Buy both a left and a right-handed glove if you are not used to practicing or having soft hands. The last thing you want to spoil your learning experience is blisters. The school provides band-aids, but a glove on the hand is worth two band-aids on the finger.

Don’t:

Come to golf school with unrealistic expectations.  The golf school is a learning experience, not a miracle cure. You may experience some frustrating moments as your body adapts to the changes needed to make you a better golfer. Prepare to see gradual changes as you practice, and be persistent and patient in your learning process. Finally, relax and have fun. You’re on your way to great golf!
